I don't even know where to start with this review. This book was nothing short of amazing for me and it completely sucked me and I couldn't put it down. The Unwilling is set in the 70s at the height of the Vietnam War. One family is suffering so many blows from the war. One son dead, and another who was dishonorably discharged and the youngest who is a senior in high school.

Jason French returns home after his time in prison and he wants to see Gibby, his youngest brother. He is trying to avoid his parents as his mother has made it all too clear that she feels the wrong son died. Him and Gibby spend a day together and of course Jason brings along two "friends" but things go horribly wrong and one of them turns up dead a few days later. Every one blames Jason because of his history, but Gibby is determined to prove his innocence.

I LOVED the family dynamic of Jason and Gibby. The mutual love and respect they had for each other. This also shows the impact that war can have not only on a person but also a family.

Thank you so much to the publisher and to bookish first for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
