I only recently read my first John Hart novel, and I can say from that experience that his writing here is consistent. We have an emotionally turbulent story that is ripe for further development in the coming chapters. Gibby is an incredibly likeable character, mature for his age. Jason plays the part of the complex middle child very well. We even get a pretty deep dive on the family dynamics in the first few chapters. The cover is stark and stunning. Overall, this was a fantastic start.
