When I read the first impression of The Taking of Jake Livingston, I was left intrigued and needing more. The book did not disappoint!

Let's start with Sawyer and get him out of the way. I took this literature class in my first year of college. And the professor started talking about Horror movies and the nameless faces that die in them. How the writers don't make you care. Ryan Douglass didn't do that with Sawyer or any of Sawyer's victims. I found myself in tears learning about Sawyer's past and the same time of feeling completely horrified of Sawyer.

Jake. Jake's character was a unique take on the whole medium thing for me. Jake is dealing with a lot. Racism, his own struggles with his sexuality, and on top of all of that hes a medium. Jake is trying to just blend into the background when he has all these differences.

Sawyer constantly wants Jake to feel like they're the same. That Jake should side with him because they're both different. I think Jake finally realizing that he can beat Sawyer and that just because they've been through similar things doesn't make them the same, was what got the fifth star from me.

I suck at reviews. But I hope this all makes sense.
