I don’t usually read spooky stories as they aren’t really my thing, but the summary of this book caught my interest when I picked it up at the library. As soon as I started reading, I was swept away into the story and couldn’t put it down. The ways in which the ghosts and spirits worked was a bit confusing at first, but that made it all the more fascinating. It always frustrates me to read about creatures or situations that only one character can experience, because it makes them get into all kinds of trouble that isn’t their fault, which I don’t exactly enjoy reading about, but in this case there was only enough to make it seem logical. I loved the way the romance between jake and allister was woven into the story, because I hadn’t read many books in the past in which being gay wasn’t the whole plot or personality of a character, and it was great to see it so seamlessly written this way.
