I loved the idea of this book and thought it would be a great book for some popcorn vibes. I wasn't expecting anything super scary or anything. Just looking for what I call cheesy horror movie vibes. For me it just wasn't a fit but I can see some readers probably those that don't really read thriller/horror books really getting into this book. However I think if you read a fair amount of thriller and horror maybe it's just to popcorn for the reader.
It has promise and I can see it flying off the library shelves for middle school and high school. One thing I've noticed is every year there seems to be that keyword a lot of books use to describe itself. This year is Get Out! I mean I love that movie but I've read now 4 books that say they are Get Out meets ??? and guess what none are so I really wish they'd drop that in the description because it will get a reader to pick it up and then they are going to be disappointed.
