This book was short but a good pace and was easy to read in one sitting. I liked the demographic and the characters with queer and black representation. The author has a quick and easy writing style that made the book that much more enjoyable. It’s a great book to read around Halloween for a fun, spooky vibe. The cover art is what initially pulled me in and the book did not disappoint. It was simple in a good way and the concept was interesting.
I would recommend this to people who want horror without too much scare and gore. It was a good balance. I would be interested to see this book as a movie.
There is also some serious notes of the racism and micro aggression in a predominately white school. It faces those serious issues with the character. Add in a little love interest as well and you have a pretty well rounded read for young readers to enjoy.
