Jake is the only Black eleventh grader at St. Clair Prep and he sees dead people. Sometimes it's hard for him to tell the world of the dead apart from reality. This book is off to a fun supernatural start. Jake starts to establish the ground rules of his experiences with the dead," …my medium mentor, Ms. Josette, has taught me—They can’t hurt you, because they can’t touch you." The beginning of this story is told from two points of view, Jake's and Sawyer Doon's. We quickly learn from Jake that Sawyer was the killer in a nearby school shooting about a year ago. The story is off to a great start. I enjoyed the light-hearted writing style and I'm very interested to hear how Jake and Sawyer's timelines come together.
