I love the cover and can see it catching attention and interest. The story does a great job of introducing Jake. The reader is quickly drawn into a connection for this teen who feels out of place everywhere and who lives mostly in his head. Something easy to understand when the reader sees the world through his eyes. Just when the reader thinks they are getting an idea of how the story is going to go they are taken into the past mind of the school shooter. He is another teen who feels out of place everywhere except the mental hospital and alone in his shed. The author allows you to see the similarities between these two while at the same time showing the object of their biggest fear comes from within. Both boys have families who seem to care more about appearance than the boys experiences. It is interesting that the author chose private school for Jake and sent the white teen to public school. I can't wait to see what comes next for these two as their meeting gets closer.
