Jake Livingston sees dead people and he is forced to watch the dead play out their final moments on loop. If that's not already enough for a sixteen year old to handle, he is also at the receiving end of a racist teacher as one of the few Black students at his school. Despite this, the arrival of another black student, Allister may change things for the better with romance in the air. Most of the time Jake helps harmless ghosts, but one starts to turn into a problem. Sawyer, a troubled teen who was part of a school shooting, wants a lot from Jake. Sawyer soon turns to haunting him and the regular high school troubles are the kind of problems he wishes he had.
This sounds like a gripping YA paranormal, full of action and suspense. Although not a genre I am very interested in, I think the plot sounds quite intriguing.
