I was invited to read an advanced digital copy of The Sushi Prophecies in exchange for an objective review of the novel.

I enjoyed The Sushi Prophecies although it was insane and not necessarily in a negative sense. I haven't read a novel quite like this before. I loved the main character, Sebastian, the manager of a garden center in Vancouver, who is affected by the powers of an exotic plant, that seemingly sends him into "other worlds" for periods of time. He and his gang of friends engage in saving their home city from the chaos that ensues by committing to putting the pieces of the puzzle together to bring Vancouver back to normalcy. There are of course human villains that are responsible for the plant's effect. Sebastian learns who his friends are, and who he thought his friends were!

August Hill's writing is quick witted but I wanted so badly to laugh more at his humor which he consistently injects.

I was invested in Sebastian's character and his gang's well being and was truly interested in how the story ended.

August Hill is very creative and I did enjoy his writing style. The Sushi Prophecies was a quick read with substance.
