Really just couldn't get into it
I really tried to get into this book, but I just couldn't. I think you need to be in a specific mood for it and, while I tried to pick it up several times, it just never happened for me.
Very absurdist and sardonic, it definitely is not a usual take or perspective. I like sardonic but I think the combination with the stoned perspective was just a bit too much for me.
I will definitely try this book again, when i am in a completely different mindset. Probably when coronavirus is in our rearview mirror. I'm already pessimistic and the main character seems to have that in spades.
This is definitely a love story of Vancouver - which is cool but is lost amongst all the chaos and confusion.
I hope when I pick this up again I can find it much more engaging and enjoyable and that I can revisit my rating. Until then though, the tldr version is that is that it's a DNF.
