I read a wide variety of books in various genres but this was a rarity for me- I could not finish this book. It was awful and tortuous to read. After making it about halfway with seeing no improvement I had to move on to better books. The writing is pompous and the story reads like stoner nonsense. I think perhaps the worst part was the narrator who was complete unredeemable in every way. I was annoyed seeing the world from his perspective and completely uninterested in what happened to him. Unfortunately none of the other characters were more like-able or interesting to keep me reading this book. I got the feeling there was a unique idea or thought somewhere buried until the layers of hipster nonsense but if that idea came to fruition I guess I’ll never know.
