My honest opinion is that this book is trying entirely too hard to be amusing and failing miserably at it. On top of that, there are some words you just shouldn't use in a book. I don't care if it's in dialogue or not, the use of the word "retard" is incredibly distasteful, no matter what the context. This is a hard pass for me.
