Often on the cusp of being unpalatable, I was engaged by this story quickly despite the coarseness of the opening. It reads like a Johnny Depp monologue (think: Hunter S Thompson) with larger-than-life characters and an abundance of simile while in parts it felt as if the prose was trying a little too hard to appeal to the hipster crowd. Overall, this felt like a psychedelic montage with new wonders behind every corner, and I would very much like to find them all.
