I absolutely love anything and everything that Aiden Thomas writes, and The Sunbearer Trials is no deviation from that. It is important to note that The Sunbearer Trials is the beginning of a duology; if you are a reader that likes to have a completed series before beginning. And it is very much clearly the first book in that the ending is not wrapped up.
Teo, the main character, is trans, queer, and is so good-hearted. I appreciate that many characters are in the LGBTQIA+ community without their identity being the main character plot. I enjoyed the friendships that were portrayed and the complexities or strain that popped up too. Experiencing the growth along with the characters connects the reader to the story at another level.
I could have easily spent more time in this world created by Aiden Thomas and am looking forward to the next book!
