This has all the makings of a great fantasy read! I also love that it seems to be based in Aztec mythology, which is something that I have never read before. The cover is inspiring as well; it makes me intrigued to read the pages between it. I also really enjoyed that the prologue of the novel explained the history behind the world in the book. Generally, one of the hardest parts of fantasy is understanding the world-building in the beginning, but this made it soooo much easier. The book primarily follows Teo, a Jade demigod, who is selected for the trials. The book is fast-paced with a lot of adventure. To be honest, I found this book lacking in the romance department, which is one way I think it could be improved just a little bit. However, overall, I really enjoyed the book and I think it is definitely worth the read, despite having a couple minor flaws.
