While fantasy isn't my typical genre, this was such a great first impression that I'm excited to add this to my list! Though the introduction starts with the mythical origin story of the world in this book, the first few chapters bring up some typical YA themes as well as more modern and contemporary issues. We're just getting a sense of our main character (a semidios and not a Hero) as well as the upcoming Sunbearer Games that will be at the heart of the action in this story. Off to a great start and looking forward to reading the rest!
