Firstly, I love the named and how they connect to the pieces of the planet/universe they represent.
Starts off with a mythology twist. The gods of light and earth create godly children, the Golds, Jades, and Obsidians, all of which are a disappointment in some way and thus accidentally bring forth humans after the god of light buries their heart in the ground.
Humans are beloved for their fragility, love, and compassion.
From here we jump to a more modern seeming time to Teo (of the Jade line). Teo is a high school student a sharply feels the hierarchical status of his world.
