I really enjoyed this excerpt! The world immediately feels vibrant, alive, and fleshed out, even from the small pieces of it we see here, and the same goes for Teo. He's instantly likable as a protagonist, with a good balance of energy/rebellion but also some understandable teenage vulnerability, and I think the style of this book fits him well and pulled me in right away. I also really enjoyed the bits of the magic system that we see and how much it's incorporated into the world.
