Thank you so much to Kensington Books for this advanced copy of The Suicide House in exchange for my honest review.

This story follows a gruesome murder that takes place on a Prep School campus. Two students are murdered in the midst of an initiation revolving around an old folklore/secret society of the campus. The murder was an open and closed case pinning the murders on a teacher with motive to kill. New discoveries are being made as the 5 surviving students begin mysteriously committing suicide. Combining the skill of a podcast host, a struggling journalist, a criminal psychiatrist, and an autistic crime analyst- we begin to come face to face with the truth.

First of all, I want to give this book props for a few things I found to be really cool within this book: a love of craft beer and a detective on the autism spectrum whose idiosyncrasies don’t hold her back. Love it.

I really loved this story. In the first few chapters, we are introduced to several characters and timelines and it’s confusing- in a good way. I love when a mystery is presented in a way to begin with like an author accidentally started and stopped 4 different books then threw them together. I know that means the connections will be WILD! There were moments through this book that i felt myself wanting to skim to get to the juicy parts; chapters that felt like they dragged on a bit. I’ll admit though that I experience this with most criminal justice thrillers. For some readers, these are the portions of the book that make it a success!

This book had me on the edge of my seat several times! And the last 100 pages required me to remind myself to breathe! The ending was not predictable at all. The story was so well done! Be sure to get your hands on this one when it comes out on July 28!
