My ARC of The Suicide House (thanks to Kensington and Bookishfirst) arrived around 3pm one afternoon. I sat down on the couch with it and read....and read and read and read. I finished it in one 4 hour sitting and simply could not put it down!
This story kept me guessing until the very end—there were plenty of twists, turns, and some very convincing red herrings. I’m usually able to figure out what the ending of a story is, or who the culprit is; with The Suicide House I had some idea of who I thought it may be but really hadn’t come to any conclusion until all was revealed.

Having not read any books by Charlie Donlea before, I appreciated the addition of and dynamic of Lane and Rory. This story is obviously a stand-alone from any of his other books, but I could tell these characters had a backstory that I hadn’t read. Rory and Lane were way more involved in the story than I was led to believe by the sneak peek. I had assumed they were just analysts/consultants on the case—they were, but ended up being way more involved than I had assumed. There was also less podcast involvement than I thought there would be (but for good reason with how the story progresses).

All in all I would rate this 5 stars, as it was very suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. I was hooked from the very first sentence and am looking forward to reading more from Charlie Donlea in the future (I’ve already downloaded another of his books)!
