I really enjoyed this book. The main protagonist was easy to connect to since she was an avid book lover. This is an easy connection between her and likely anyone who is reading which makes people, or at least me, more inclined to keep reading and see how she ends up.
I also really enjoyed the magic system in this book, especially how it entwines with technology in places. I honestly wish more books did that. The fantastical twist on Sherlock Holmes was very fun. Buc embodied all the most important characteristics of the famous detective, yet remained very much her own person and character.
The jumps of logic that Buc makes were at times hard to follow. I had to read over some several times to understand how she got from point A to point B. There were a couple times too that the prose itself was a little hard to understand.
