It wasn't a badly written book but I guess it just wasn't for me. The sea setting itself isn't something I gravitate towards and ultimately it wasn't a well developed world that I could find myself immersed in. I also couldn't connect with any of the characters, especially our MC who is unlikable (which is not a bad trait to have in a character) and I just didn't find anything in her character arc to root for. There's lot of sexism in the narrative, with many female characters being called all kinds of names (including our female MC calling other women the same slurs) and I'm too tired of such stories, and wonder why is it so common when male authors write women. Why does every woman's body have to be described in a way that just makes me uncomfortable.

There is a lot of plot and action and I will admit it is fast paced, but without a world building or character hook for me to root for, I just found it difficult to even finish the book. Maybe it might be a suitable for readers who prefer a lot of action.
