I love World War II books although I have not read a good one in awhile. Where I think most of the stories are too long and drawn out this one seemed too abrupt of an ending. There was so much more of this story to be told and at least a few more chapters would have been sufficient. Two teenagers escape their captors during World War II and both of their goals are to go home to their families. When they cross paths and help each other out, they realize they are supposed to be sworn enemies. As the story progresses though, they realize they need each other to survive. I eagerly read this book within a few days, enjoying the combination of intense, scary, and sad moments. There were several likeable characters who also helped them survive along the way, although the question always arose who they could really trust. Overall, an enjoyable read, but giving it 4 stars due to an unfinished story. I received a free copy for my honest review.
