Silent Unseen by Amanda Mccrina was was a mediocre read for me. I will admit I am not a big fan of the historical fiction genre, but overall the story fell flat. I did find myself unintentionally comparing this to the work of Ruta Sepetys as the tone of this book is very similar. The writing is decent but the character development was lacking. I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters, and they felt emotionless to the point of being mechanical. There were a few twists I did not see coming that made it more entertaining. The world building and setting for the time period seemed to be fleshed out well, but unfortunately these were the only aspects of the book that I enjoyed. I am giving 3 stars for effort, as it seems the author really did try and had a unique idea for the plot, but realistically this would have been a 2 star rating for me.
