This book was mesmerizing, intense, suspenseful, and full of intrigue! I was interested after I saw that the author was Amanda McCrina, author of The Traitor, another book that I read (ARC).

I was pulled in by the premise, the first look and summary. I like reading books with the main character as a young woman, and then she has to fight for her family, herself, and her people.

Historical novels can be so hit or miss, especially with me, but this one did a good job at keeping my interest and keeping the suspense. Learning more about Poland and Nazi Germany was also really interesting, which is one reason why I really like historical novels. I like that I am able to learn something while also reading an interesting, intriguing fiction novel,

I think that the cover could have been better, while it definitely fits the role for a historical book, it wasn't super exciting/didn't draw me in as much as the summary did.
