Given the situation in Ukraine right now, this a very timely book and perhaps an important one to read, as well. It’s clear the book goes into the history between the Ukraine, Russia and Poland dating back to 1940. The reader meets Maria who escapes a German auto factory exiled to slave labor heading back to find her family in Poland. We also meet Kostya, a member of the UPA fighting the Polish resistance and Russia.
