I don’t typically give five star ratings. In fact, I’ve never given a five star rating, but this book is that good.

First of all, I was pretty hesitant to read this as the main feature every review had ranted about was the twist ending. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good twist, but I’d just finished reading a well-reviewed, twisty novel that was had sacrificed all character development for the sake of a twist.

The Silent Patient makes no such sacrifice. The characters are quite realistic with development that make sense given their sometimes tragic circumstances. The first-person narrator, Dr. Theo Faber, is honest from the beginning. So much so that when the twist came, I was surprised not to have guessed it.

Don’t just take my word for it. Read the book, now!
