All I can say is wow! There have been so many thrillers that I have read that I’m not completely satisfied with because they are either predictable or become so far fetched that they become unbelievable. Not The Silent Patient! I must preface this by saying that I didn’t read any reviews before reading this book because I didn’t want to have them provide me with any insight. I was hooked right from the beginning! Alicia, an acclaimed artist and wife of a successful photographer, comes home one day and shoots her husband in the face. After that she doesn’t speak another word; ever. Along comes Theo Faber, a psychiatrist who is obsessed with her. He is bound and determined to find out her story. I can’t say any more than this without writing a spoiler. I love the way the story unfolded with chapters that alternated between both Theo’s and Alicia’s current and past lives. The way their stories come together is nothing less than explosive and the last line; genius!
