It...Was...Phenomenal!!!!! So many times I was SURE *insert name* had something to do with Gabriel's death. But then the story would switch to another character and I would decide "OK!! scrap EVERYTHING I thought before, this person is giving me creepy vibes...THEY HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH GABRIEL'S DEATH!!!!"
Then I feared for Alicia's life because of the many obsessive men in her life. From Max to Jean to her shady cousin.. Paul?! To Christian and all the men staff at the Grove and why not add the female staff, Alicia's aunt could have been making calls from her bed and DEFINITELY ELIF!!! I felt like Alicia was the 'silent' Alison (from PPL) who knew everyone's secrets so a lot pf people wanted to silence her.
Honestly, so many characters acted so suspicious/creepy that I wanted EVERYONE booked on g.p. LOL (I could have SWORN Gabriel's brother Max killed him over pure jealousy..I SCREAMED at the scene of him professing his love for Alicia🙈🙈).
But the ENDING..OMFG..EVERYTHING was foggy for me..I was sure that the case was solved when Christian was taken away (I despised his character + he's a CREEP).
I thought it was odd the similarities Theo (MC) and Alicia (his patient) had. I knew Theo was an odd character..and that his life was going downhill (the Jesus reference like Alicia and going back to smoking) So I knew his character wasn't stable but I could not tell how unstable he was...
I'm trying not to spoil anything but I'm disappointed in Theo. I was rooting for his character because I know he really wanted to help Alicia..but, his TRUE purpose behind it astounded me. It was basically the mentally ill treating the mentally ill.
I know this is going to be a VERY popular novel and I cannot wait to see what else Alex Michaelides will be releasing.
