After just finishing The Silent Patient, I can see why there has been so much buzz and praise about it. What a freaking RIDE! Alicia is in a mental institute for killing her husband and has not spoken in years. Criminal psychotherapist Theo is fascinated with Alicia's story and believes he can get her to talk. He lands a job at the hospital where she is and gets his way with the higher-ups so that he can deal with her one-on-one. But maybe he should have stayed at his previous job, because nothing at the mental institute is what it seems. Then again, neither is Theo. He has problems in his home life, with his wife, and his past is secretive to say the least. What transpires after Theo begins working with Alicia is a crazy, shocking ride that left me not knowing who to trust, where the story was going, or how it was going to end. There was one shock after another, and the last twist had me going back and reading chapters again to make sure my mind wasn't playing tricks on me! This is the best book I've read in a long time!!
