In this debue novell by Alex Michaelides, we follow a psychotherapist who is so fascinated by the story of a woman named Alicia and her silence that he wants to help her to start talking again. Alicia stopped speaking when seems like out of the blue she murdered her husband.
I was excited about the book coming out and the plot. In my opinion, the story was weak and slow. The parallel with Greek Mythology, though interesting, didn't deliver or excited me. By the end of the book, the question remains: Why did Theo need Alicia to talk?
All throughout the book, I couldn't shake off the feeling that the book reads like a script only to find out later that Alex is a movie scriptwriter. Overall, the book was overhyped.
