A fan of thrillers and mysteries...after spending years and years reading from the genre sometimes you feel like you are reading more or less the same thing. It can get mundane and that's not a discredit to all the wonderful books of the genre. Great reads..but sometimes you need to revamp that literary palate. This was that book for me.
The Silent Patient by author Alex Michaelides is gripping, searing, intensely grinding book that I am telling you right now....you find it very hard to put down of your own volition. The story....I'm not giving anything away...is so mind blowing...so fantastic....you are sucked in...and spit out at the end and you don't even know what hit you. I just know I'm gonna be hard pressed to find another book shortly after this one that will give me that same vibe that I got with this read. Alex Michaelides' writing style is magnetic and intelligent. He weaves through characters and their lives in such fantastic detail that you can literally see the movie playing out in your head. He doesn't give you everything...but just enough...a perfect formula for page turning frenzy..and then all at once the unfolding to a dynamic ending. Excellent read.
Highly recommend. Put this down as "Must read books for 2019 and beyond".
