"Alicia Berenson was thirty-three years old when she killed her husband." So begins The Silent Patient, narrated by psychotherapist, Theo Faber, who is seemingly so intrigued by Alicia that he waits for a position to open up at the hospital, the Grove, where Alicia was placed following her trial. See, Alicia hasn't spoken since the day she killed her husband.

Short chapters make this a quick read, but the storyline seemed to drag along and didn't hold my attention as much as I had hoped. With that being said, the final 100 pages really picked up the pace and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough as the story twisted this way and that way until the final conclusion.

I feel like I would still recommend this book to fans of psychological thrillers based solely on the ending.

Thank you to Celadon Books for the advanced copy; all opinions are my own.
