This book is pretty much your average psychological thriller - but better. The beginning of this book was kind of hard to get in to. However, once it picked up, it REALLY got good and I seriously could not put it down. I had heard mixed reviews about this book, however, overall I was hearing that it was phenomenal so I went for it and it did not disappoint.

Theo Faber is a psychologist with an intriguing interest into the murder of the husband of Alicia Berenson and how she fits into the crime. The narration switching back and forth from these two perspectives made the overall story feel complete and I absolutely loved that about the book. While that is most of the time very hard to follow, I would say that it was necessary for this plot. The ending was impeccable. I usually pride myself in knowing the "murderer" midway through the mystery novel, however, this one completely caught me off guard and I didn't figure it out until much later than was typical.

If I could change anything about the book, I think it would be that the beginning was a little bit more fast paced. I almost put the book down and started a new book because of the slow speed. While I'm glad I didn't give up on it, I definitely would think it could be improved by a little more action in the beginning.
