I guessed the ending to this book...now that happens a lot to me, but still, I was bummed. Let me take you back a bit and explain that I read this book *after* I read "The Maidens", which was absolutely my bad, but these things happen. And how was I to know that this author's second book would be even better than his first?!? That almost never happens! In saying all of that I feel I should tell you that I really, really, *really* very much liked this book, however I was blown away by "The Maidens" and I read this straight after, so I was really setting myself up for a bit of a letdown there. You can't really go straight into something hot off the heels of such a fantastic read or it's bound to be a let down.
All that being said, for sure go read this book right away if you haven't! It is a great read, and I have shoved it into many friends and library patrons hands (I work at the library, I'm not just an overly aggressive library patron) and excitedly told them to read it! The story keeps you turning the pages anxiously awaiting the next clue, the characters all have a lot of (forgive me for this) character, the writing is phenomenal, and as for the aforementioned guessing-of-the-ending, in all fairness I didn't really know until about halfway through the book, so that was still long enough to be not too disappointed in figuring it out. I wish that Alex Michaelides had a million more books I could read, I guess I just have to anxiously await the next one like everyone else who has read one of his books. Darn.
