Perfect Blend of Old-Fashioned Mystery & Psychological Thriller

Right out of the gate I knew I was going to love The Silent Patient. I really enjoy old fashioned mystery novels and the occasional psychological thriller, and the story in this novel was a perfect blend of the two genres. The author's writing style was vivid, I developed a clear picture of the characters and the surroundings, it felt like I was in the scenes as I was reading.
I tend to be a slow reader but this book really sucked me in, I couldn't put it down! The story felt fast paced, but at the same time it took place in a very subdued environment, so there was a duality there of a speedy story that also stood still. Also, the same could be said for the characters, they were packed to the brim with raw emotion and backstory to the point that you could feel it, but at the same time they also seemed subdued.
Plenty of twists and turns throughout the book and you will find yourself immersed in a world that felt like Andy Warhol meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Highly Recommend!
