I was so frustrated with this book. This was one of the most popular mystery thrillers of the year, but I found nothing thrilling about it. We have boring characters that lack depth and a lot of words for filler. It took way too long to get to the decent twist at the end; there was a lot of fluff & loose ends throughout. It was a chore to get through. Many describe it as being “fast-paced” but I couldn’t disagree more. To be quite honest, I could care less about the mystery behind ‘the silent patient’ because, as the reader, I was not offered any reason TO care. This book would have been more effective had it given us more emotional depth in the characters, especially the narrator. I was disappointed.
