How was I in the minority of those that saw that twist from a mile away?

I was clued into the big twist early by the writing style, it really gave itself away. I have been SHOCKED at how many people found this twist shocking, unbelievable, exciting, "one of the best thrillers ever!". I mean.... sorry, but no.

I was also seriously bothered by the way Alicia’s diary was written - no one, I mean no one, writes a journal with direct quotes and narration like that. It was so bothersome to me it took me out of the plot for a bit. I never got over that, and I also felt the big encounter was handled a little messily. But the writing was very good, characters were well drawn, and the author had me for a while suspecting every single new person mentioned for despicable crimes. Not mad I read it, but wish it was a little less heavy handed.
