I finally got around to reading my copy of The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. I had heard so much about this book prior to actually reading it that I was afraid it would fall short for me but I’m glad it didn’t. Although I guessed the ending to this book it didn’t take away from my enjoyment while reading it. For a debut novel I found it a well written character study of Alicia (The Silent Patient) and Theo Faber, a criminal psychotherapist. Alex Michaelides was able to weave a suspenseful and thrilling story in The Silent Patient. The story alternates through diary entries from Alica and Theo’s story past and present. This was his first novel and it was a really good one! I hope he continues to write more novels. His talent for keeping the reader engaged and on the edge of their seat was evident. I gave this book 4 stars.
