“As you will see, it’s an incredible story – of that there is no doubt. Whether you believe it or not is up to you.”
A couple in love. A violent murder. Then silence. Theo, a psychotherapist is determined to unravel the mystery behind Alicia’s silence. What really happened that night? Will Alicia ever speak again? Who played a role in that fateful night?
I loved how Alicia’s story was told through journal entries. I always feel a deeper connection with a character when the feelings are conveyed as raw and unfiltered.
The characters are tortured, flawed and I couldn’t get enough of them. I would say the anticipation for me with this story is more about the characters than what really happened. I wanted to see where everyone ended up after it all. I think Michaelides does an excellent job of drawing the reader in and keeping them fully engaged. I had a hard time putting this one down.
I’m thrilled this has already been optioned for a film. I can’t wait to see it come to life on the big screen. Another fantastic and captivating debut.
