How do you communicate with someone who does not speak? After so many have failed, what makes you think you'll be able to be the one to break through? And why are you so desperate to do so?
I spent much of this book asking these questions. I also spent a lot of time during this book feeling confused.
I struggled to connect at all with the story or the characters, and I re-read most of the last chapters because I wasn't quite sure what had happened and what I had missed to get to that point.
In hindsight, after finishing the whole thing, I thought it was only ok. It had a great idea, but I think the execution was lacking. I struggled to wrap my head around how it all played out.
I know that I'm in the minority here, as this book has received tons of incredible reviews and has been called one of the best books of 2019, but for me it was just average, unfortunately.
