WOW. This book was insanely good. I did not see any of what happened at the end of this book coming. Quick plot, psychotherapist Theo takes an interest in artist Alicia Berenson after she's committed for killing her husband and then going totally silent for years. He believes he can bring her out of whatever has her uncommunicative. He starts by backtracking based on what he can glean from family and friends and then she shares a diary with him as well. According to the diary a man had been following her in the days leading up to her husband's shooting, but was the mystery man real, or a product of Alicia's unstable mind? She'd previously been treated for paranoid delusions after the death of her father. What follows as Theo digs deeper into her past, while dealing with his own wife's infidelity, is a wild twisting thriller that loops around on itself in a crazed story that makes me want to devour everything this author has ever written. Absolutely brilliant story.
