Wow, that was quite possibly one of the most grab your attention from the first sentence excerpt I've ever read. I've been debating whether or not to buy this, and that question is definitely YES.
Silent Patient is a book about a married couple who are both successful artists living a seemingly happy, loving life. But without warning one day police find the man and wife in their living room, one dead the other alive, barely. The wife is eventually convincted of her husbands murder and sent to a mental institution. Why? Because since the moment she was found standing in front of her dead husband bleeding from her wrists after attempting suicide she has not spoken a single word. Even once she is in the mental institution years later she has still never uttered a word. The narrator of the book though is a psyotherapist who seems to have some issues of his own who seems a bit obsessed with this woman's story and believes he would be able to get her to talk and finally end the mystery of why she killed her husband. So he gets a job where she has been locked up and... I know right, that's where it stops. I will definitely be buying this book ASAP! Not even 20 pages in and all I can think is how do I get this book to me the fastest way possible. The book is well written, gives enough details and cryptic hints to grab your attention, but not too many to where you're bored or already pretty sure you know they end by the 10th chapter. I rarely am not able to figure out what's going to happen before it does, but I feel like this could be a first! I liked that not only is the woman and main character of the story someone you know has a lot of story to tell, but so too does the psychotherapist. If I'm right, has past and maybe future story will be just as much if not more interesting and mysterious.
