Holy crap guys. This book just knocked me flat. This is one of the only books that I have read recently that I gave a 5. Why? The characters? Completely multidimensional! They were anything but flat! There was intrigue, raw emotions coming from so many characters in so many ways, fear, pain, love, betrayal, abuse and so many other things happening at once. Everything was written in such a beautiful and eloquent way that I was impressed. Not to mention you get so much insight into the mind of theo that its incredible. You see that sometimes psychiatrists need their own psychiatrists because they are so messed up. I felt like this was a refreshing take on this. Theo let's us into alot of his struggles and personal demons. Then we have alicia. Well how am I supposed to know a character who cant talk? Well theo tells us a bit about her but theres also bits and pieces of her diary. She speaks without using her voice and we get to know her through her words. Just a work of art.

The plot? You have a woman who apparently is completely crazy and out of her mind for murdering her husband. A man that she seemingly was happier with than she had been in years. She was a bright artist who was unique and starting to gain recognition. Then one day she shot her husband and never spoke again. Now this therapist thinks he has what it would take to get Alicia speaking again. He thinks he can either help her heal or just find out the truth about what happened....but the truth sometimes can do more damage than it does good.

The climax and th ending?! Guys. I will not even go into much detail about this other than my jaw is still working it's way back up from the floor. I was NOT expecting for it to end the way it did. One thing I did notice is like many other murder mystery/ psychological thriller, it started to wrap up towards the end and it all finished up rather quickly. Now usually this annoys me but in this case it was done in such a realistic and life like way that I have to applaud it. I now see what so many authors attempt to accomplish when they do this. I have to say, done right it literally just ties everything up in a perfect little bow that's left my head spinning like I just got off the tea cup rides at Disney world.

I'd say to sum this story up a quote I pulled right from the book will do it justice.

"No one is born evil.
A baby cannot hate the mother without the mother first hating the baby"
