This was a good first debut book, a good psychological thriller, by this author. It seemed slow in the beginning but the pace quickened halfway through the book. I enjoyed the character development. But, again the story did not pick up for me until the last six chapters. I did expect for there to be more intense and intricate relationships among the characters.

Therefore, the story of a patient losing her voice, but all the while knowing her perpetrator. Internally, I cannot image how scary it was for that poor woman. The ending felt a little rushed in my opinion. I was not surprised by the ending, either. I wanted there to be some true break through with more action. There was limited action that I see as a drawback for reading this author's future work. Despite that concern, I actually enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
