Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.
This story takes some time to get into, but we get to know both Theo, the therapist, and Alicia. As Alicia deals with life inside the asylum, we find ourselves wondering if she really did murder her husband, and why? What prompted this quiet woman to snap? Why can’t Theo crack this case? As we read Alicia’s journals, we find out more and more of her life. We also learn that Theo is dealing with issues of his own. Will they affect his ability to successfully treat Alicia?
