Paul is being taken by the police, he is their primary suspect. We find out why and who were the actual perpetrators in the rest of the story.
In present day Paul comes back to visit his mother in hospice after not seeing her, or the town he grew up in, for 25 years.
There are now copycat crimes...

I loved this book. It didn’t have the flow of WM but it had such a darkness that I appreciated.
