THE SHADOWS begins with Charlie Crabtree, a teenager with dark imagination and sinister smile. Twenty-five years ago, Crabtree committed a shocking murder and disappeared. Paul Adams is Crabtree's friend and one of the victims. In current days, Paul learns that another copycat has struck and his mother is distressed. Then the story follows his investigation, all the unsettling things that is happening and the mystery behind.
Since I loved "The whisper man", I was going in this sophomore with high expectations.
Unfortunately THE SHADOWS was a disappointment. The suspense was on and off all the time and the plot went to a different direction from what I was expecting, leaving somehow a bit of void. I felt like something was missing.
The writing is fluid however the pacing and plot didn't work for me since I wasn't engaged enough in the story.
