This book had me hooked from the beginning. Following a timeline flashing between present day and 25 years ago. Paul Adams was brought back to town because of his mothers declining health after leaving and swearing to never come back years prior.
While he is back local detectives are investigating a copycat murderer with eerie similarities to what happened during his childhood. This book was not scary but more so chilling. Between his mother with dementia making creepy statements and a copycat killer in the next town over, all while someone is taunting Paul.
Paul takes the initiative to do his own investigating, and uncovers what really happened 25 years ago. Alex North's writing has a way of sucking you in, this book was thrilling and had a plot twist I absolutely did not see coming. I highly recommend this book to fellow thriller lovers.
